Bonnie Kittridge

September 21, 1949 — December 16, 2021

Bonnie Kay (Rawling) Kittridge, 72 of Monahans, passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on December 16, 2021 in Monahans. She was welcomed into Heaven by her father, mother and brother, David Lee Rawling.

Bonnie was born on September 21, 1949 in Port Huron, Michigan to Gordon Lee Rawling and Betty Josephine (Clare) Rawling — the first of five children and the only girl.

She attended school in Port Huron, MI and graduated from Port Huron Northern High School in 1967.

Bonnie married Richard Dennis Kittridge on December 6, 1972 in Port Huron, MI.

In 1973, the young couple made the trek to the Great State — Texas, and lived in the Midkiff area until 1976 when they settled in Monahans.

Bonnie was raised a yankee, but always said she got to Texas as fast as she could!

The first of the couples three daughters, Jody Lee was born in 1974, Leanne followed in 1976, and with the birth of their youngest daughter, Christy Lynn in 1977, the family was complete.

Although the marriage ended, Bonnie and Richard remained friends and raised their three daughters together.

Bonnie was a cheerful morning person, and would annoy her daughters by waking them up for school singing “Heigh-Ho”— with her own twist. A tradition she continued with her grandchildren.

She worked as a convenience store manager for many years for several chains, ending her career in 2008 after 21 years at King's Court.

Bonnie loved going to work to greet her loyal customers at Colonial and King's Court — always with a smile.

If she did not know who you were when you entered the store, she knew your life story by the time you left. From that moment on you were considered a friend or as she would say “Pal”.

Anyone who knew Bonnie, knew her love for Elvis and her love of collecting Elvis records and memorabilia.

In 2008, Bonnie lost her right leg due to complications from diabetes, but never lost her great attitude or optimistic outlook on life.

Bonnie never considered herself as disabled, and would tell anyone trying to help her, “I can do it myself, I'm not handicapped”!

She remained positive and very independent, living on her own, relearning to drive, traveling, riding a modified bike, riding a 4-wheeler and just enjoying life.

Many will remember seeing her riding around town on her motorized scooter.

She would go on daily outings to the grocery store, post office, school —to pick up her granddaughter, visit her daughters at work, attend her grandchildren's events or simply for a ride on a warm day, waving and greeting everyone she met along the way.

Bonnie was not able to return to work after her amputation like she planned, and said of her customers, “I miss everyone there, and all my customers who stopped in daily. For 21 years, that was my world.”

In 2019, Bonnie stepped outside her comfort zone, and left her home of 43 years to move to Levelland to be closer to her oldest daughter.

She lived in Levelland until early 2021 when her declining health required around the clock care and she returned home to Monahans until her passing.

Bonnie's grandchildren were the light of her life. She attended all their milestones and events and was always their biggest cheerleader.

She was overjoyed with the birth of her great-grandson, Rayden Lynn.

She is survived by her three daughters, Jody Lee Drennan and her husband Chad — who Bonnie fondly referred to as “My Sonny” of Levelland; Leanne Kittridge of Levelland and Christy Lynn Sullivan of Monahans; three brothers, Gordon Kim Rawling (Pamela) of Henderson, Robert Brian Rawling, and John Kevin Rawling both of Monahans; sister-in-laws, Helen Rawling of Midland, Clara Jo Van Zandt of Hughes Springs; six grandchildren, Kyle Logan Drennan (Hope) of Levelland; Trevor Alan Drennan (Tanner) of Jacksonville, FL., Jalen Lee Sullivan and girlfriend Karlye Renee Venable of Midland, Alyssa Renee Kittridge of Levelland, Kabira Leisha Sullivan and Kadija Leiana Sullivan both of Monahans; and one great-grandson, Rayden Lynn Drennan of Levelland.

She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bonnie was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her but especially her daughters, sonny and grandchildren.
